A short history of Western Refractory
Western Refractory opened its doors in 1984 with the concept of hard work, dedicated employees and satisfied customers. Over the years Western has grown from serving a few clients to a nationwide network of satisfied customers. Initially Western Refractory was started as a basic refractory contractor and within 25 years has grown into a to a multi-faceted specialty contractor providing outstanding services and support to our valued clients in a diverse range of industries.

Pat started Western Refractory with a belief he could make a difference in the industry by providing unparalleled service to his clients needs. A proven Superintendent in the field of industrial Refractory, Pat struck out on his own to build a company that brings flexibility, fair cost, and peace of mind. Still going strong after 25 years, Western Refractory is the vision Pat had in mind. Pat is an avid outdoors-man, hunter, and fisherman that truly appreciates nature and all of the splendors it holds. He also enjoys riding motorcycles, raising horses, and country living.
Vice-President Kent D. Baumgardner
Kent has been with Western since it’s creation in 1984. He is not only the VP but also Western’s Sr. Project Manager. Handling the daily operations and all major projects is where Kent shines. With his deep dedication to the company and the industry Kent is a tremendous asset. He and his wife Regay have a house in San Antonio and usually can be seen in their RV when they are on the road. His favorite activities are hunting, fishing, and riding hawgs.
